Earl Kimbro

March 11th, 1918 – May 8th, 2015

Howard "Earl" Kimbro, age 97, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 5:36 am on Friday, May 8, 2015 at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, IL. He was born on March 11, 1918 in Greenville, IL, the son of John and Evelyn (Thaker) Kimbro. Earl married Betty Peters on August 23, 1947 in Mascoutah, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are three sons, Ronnie Kimbro of Nashville, TN, Gary (and Marilyn) Kimbro of Browning, IL and Todd Kimbro of Astoria, IL, his daughter Tammy (and Bill) Batterton of Astoria, IL, his daughter-in-law Missie Kimbro of Astoria, IL, 14 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren.

Earl is preceded in death by his son Tim Kimbro.

Earl served in the United States Air Force as Staff Sargent from 1946 to 1952 during World War II and the Korean War.

He was the owner and operator of Western Auto Store in Astoria. Earl also worked at Stevens Publishing in Astoria and retired from International Harvester.

Services will be held at 11 am on Wednesday, May 13, 2015 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Pat Clements will be officiating. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. Memorials may be made to the Astoria American Legion Post #25.
