Wade A. Brown

January 25th, 1921 – September 30th, 2014

Wade A. Brown, age 93, of Astoria, IL, passed away at 5:30 am on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 at Havana Health Care in Havana, IL. He was born on January 25, 1921 in Ipava, IL, the son of Olin and Fairie (Wickert) Brown. Wade married Alta Walton on May 28, 1955 in Astoria.

Survivors include his wife Alta Brown of Industry, IL, his daughter Margie (and Steve) Crumrine of Spokane Valley, WA, his granddaughter Cassandra (and Brandon) Stoddart of Jamestown, ND, three great-grandchildren, Mackinzie, Ryker and Everett Stoddart, his sister Phyllis Strode of Macomb, IL, his sister-in-law Pauline Brown of Canton, IL, four nieces and two nephews.

Wade is preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Alice Kelleher, Anne Guida, Margaret Thompson and Mildred Ebbert, two brothers Boyd and Dane Brown and nephew Richard Thompson.

Wade worked for the State of Illinois Highway Department as a blacktopping foreman for 25 years. When he retired, he did what he always wanted to do. He farmed until he wasn’t able anymore. Wade was also a member of the Astoria Church of Christ.

Services will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 11:00 am at the Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Eric Trone will be officiating. A visitation will be held from 9:30 am to the time of the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will be in the Vermont Cemetery in Vermont, IL. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Church of Christ or Havana Health Care.
