Michael E. Hickle

March 3rd, 1952 – November 1st, 2018

Michael E. Hickle, 66, of Quincy, IL, formerly of Macomb, IL, passed away 5:30 am on Thursday, November 1, 2018 at the Illinois Veterans Home in Quincy, IL. He was born on March 3, 1952 in Rushville, IL, the son of Gilbert and Ruby (Bowman) Hickle.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Christopher (and Christina) Hickle of Smithfield, MO and Jeremy (and Angelina) Hickle of Providence, KY, 3 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson, 1 great-granddaughter, father, Gilbert Hickle of Astoria, IL, 2 brothers, Jim (and Kathy) Hickle of Astoria, IL and David (and Kim) Hickle of Bushnell, IL and 2 sisters, Mary (and Herb) Dilts of Marietta, IL and Shelley (and Bob) Haare of Astoria, IL.

He is preceded in death by his son, Shawn Hickle and mother, Ruby Hickle.

Michael enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1971, with basic training in Wanini, CA. He was stationed at Guantanamo Bay Navel Base in 1974. In 1976, he was stationed at Bermuda Navel Air Station. Michael was discharged as a Petty Officer, Second Class in 1978.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. Pastor Bennett Woods will be officiating. Military rites will be provided by the Astoria American Legion Post #25. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home. Cremation rites will be accorded after the service with burial at a later date. Memorials may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Peoria Affiliate in Peoria, IL.
