Kenneth E. Derry

May 26th, 1928 – May 15th, 2018

Kenneth E. Derry, 89, of El Paso, IL, formerly of Macomb and Ipava, IL, passed away at 6:25 am on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at Heritage Manor El Paso. He was born on May 26, 1928 in Ipava, the son of Leonard and Nellie (Cleer) Derry. Kenneth married Doris Lalicker on August 14, 1949 in Ipava, IL. She survives.

Also surviving are his three sons, John (and Jane) Derry of Brea, CA, James (and Sandy) Derry of Bloomington, IL and Mark (and Cindy) Derry of Lisle, IL, daughter, Joann (and Tom) Prunty of Glen Ellyn, IL, 11 grandchildren; Jason (and Alicia) Derry, Jennifer (and Nelson) Arblaster, Brian (and Terri) Prunty, Brad (and Anne) Prunty, Breanne (and Andrew) Holdorf, Candice (and Joe) Logsdon, Christopher (and Ashley) Derry, Brandon Derry, Andrew (and Melanie) Derry, Katie Derry, and Anna Derry, and 21 great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his infant brother, Albert Derry.

Kenneth was a payroll clerk and purchasing agent for Peabody Coal, ASARCO coal companies and LTD Industries in Lewistown, IL. He later worked for Walmart in Macomb, retiring in 1998.

He served in the Illinois National Guard.

Kenneth was a member of the Berean Christian Church in Ipava, Maple Avenue Christian Church in Macomb, and Eastview Christian Church in Bloomington, IL.

Services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL. Cremation rites will be accorded following the service. Brad Prunty and Brian Prunty will be officiating. A visitation will take place 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday. Interment will be in the Ipava Cemetery at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Berean Christian Church in Ipava, IL or Western Illinois University Campus Students for Christ and can be sent to Shawgo Memorial Home at PO Box 525, Astoria, IL 61501

My Mom, Colleen Douglas so enjoyed Ken and Doris visiting together with her while living in Macomb and then receiving cards when she went to the nursing home. We are so sorry for your loss.

The Derry Family would like to express our gratitude to the Shawgo family (Jeff, Brad, and Bernard) for the excellent care and compassion shown to us during the entire process of celebrating Kenneth’s life. Jeff and Brad went above and beyond at the nursing home when picking up our loved one. Doris and Kenneth were treated with immense respect. Thank you for a very professional job while showing you care for the families of loved ones who have passed.
