Willis D. Mayall

July 20th, 1923 – March 26th, 2018

Willis Dean Mayall, 94, of Washington, MO formerly of Ipava, IL passed away peacefully on March 26, 2018 with his family by his side. He was born on July 20, 1923 at home in rural Summum, IL to Lawrence and Olive (Danner) Mayall. He was raised on the farm, graduated from Ipava High School, served in the Army and was a WWII Veteran. He also served in India/Burma.

He married Margaret E. (Burgard) Mayall on May 27, 1947 in Mason City, IL. She passed away on June 16, 2007.

Willis is survived by 4 children, Brianna (and Gaylon) Malott of Marquette Heights, IL, Jeanette “Susie” (and Robert) Bucher of Astoria, IL, Kevin Dean (and Bernadette) Mayall of Washington, MO and Candice “Jill” (and John) Kukla of Gerald, MO, 13 grandchildren and 29 great and great-great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, Verlyn Mayall and Claud “Jack” Mayall and 3 grandchildren, Melissa Malott, Natasha Jacqueline Kukla and John Ross Kukla.

He was an Operating Engineer for the United States Army. Upon returning home to start a family they opened Western Auto Appliance. He and Margaret also opened the Milk Shed Café in Ipava and he became a cars salesman for the family business at Burgard Chevrolet.

He was a member of the Order of the Masonic Lodge #213 Ipava, Ipava American Legion Post #17, VFW Post #5001 Lewistown, IL, Mohammed Shriners Peoria, IL, Scottish Rite and served on the Ipava Volunteer Fire Department.

There is a celebration of life on March 30, 2018 at 10:30 am at First Christian Church in Washington, MO.

A funeral service, along with Masonic Rites, will be held on April 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria, IL with a visitation at 10:00 am. Pastor Doug Krukewitt will be officiating. Military Rites and burial will be in the Ipava Cemetery. There will be a luncheon at the Ipava American Legion following services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Ipava American Legion #17 or the Peoria Mohammed Shriners Crippled Children in memory of Willis Mayall.
