William "Bill" Foster

October 10th, 1918 – July 18th, 2014

William D. "Bill" Foster, age 95 of Peoria, IL, formerly of Table Grove, passed away at 9:53 am Friday, July 18, 2014 in the Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Peoria Heights. He was born on October 10, 1918 in Table Grove, a son of Marshall and Grace (Byerly) Foster. Bill married Marie Strehlow on August 21, 1948 in Peoria. She survives.
Also surviving are his daughter Marcia (and Rhea) Taylor of Peoria, his son Michael (and Wendy) Foster of Downers Grove, IL, four grandchildren, Rhea (and Patrick Bonnet) Taylor II, Ryan Foster, Kim Foster, and Zack Foster, and two great-grandchildren Hunter and Harper Bonnet-Taylor.
Bill was a graduate of Northwestern University.
He was a US Air Force veteran, serving from 1943 to 1952 with a rank of First Lt.
Bill was a member of there Sigma Nu Fraternity, the Table Grove Community Church, was Past Commander of the Table Grove American Legion Post, and a 50 year member of the Vermont Masonic Lodge.
He was very involved with the Corn Stock Theater in Peoria, both in production and on the stage.
Bill worked for 40 years at Block and Kuhl Company in Peoria.
A celebration of Bill's life will be held on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Table Grove Community Church at 2:30 pm. Pastor Rob Harrison will officiate. Visitation will take place an hour prior to the services. Memorials may be made to the Table Grove Fire and Rescue Squad or the American Legion Posts at Vermont or Ipava. Another celebration of his life will take place in Peoria at Independence Village on October 10, 2014.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lee and the caring staff of Cornerstone Rehabilitation and Nursing Center and OSF Hospice for their wonderful care of Bill.

The France family is terrible saddened to hear of the passing of such a wonderful and loving man. He was such a good friend to our son Nick and we will always be grateful to him for all the friendship he shared with us. Until we meet again, GO CUBBIES!!!
