David "Jack" Hughes

March 23rd, 1928 – March 30th, 2016

David “Jack” Hughes, 88, of Bushnell, FL, formerly of Astoria, passed away on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at Osprey Point Nursing Center in Bushnell, FL. He was born on March 23, 1928 in Astoria, the son of George and Grace (Stambaugh) Hughes. He married Dorothy Ostein in June of 1957 in Florida. She preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death is his daughter, Vicki Kolleck and sister, Geneva Howard.

Survivors include his daughter, Jackie Powers of Godfrey, 2 step-sons, Ben Kelly of Jefferson, GA and John Ostein of Bradenton, FL, step-daughter, Jean Ostein of Maryland, several grandchildren, great grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren, brother, George (and Doris) Hughes of Astoria and his nieces and nephews.

Jack was a Brick Mason and served in the US Army from 1950 to 1956.

A graveside service will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Astoria Cemetery with military rites provided by the Astoria American Legion. Chaplin Robert Spencer will be officiating. Memorials may be made to the Astoria Township Cemetery Association.
