David J. Wickert

September 25th, 1954 – January 30th, 2016

David Wickert, 61, of Littleton, passed away at 7:31 am on Saturday, January 30, 2016 at his home. He was born on September 25, 1954 in Macomb, the son of Don and Patricia (Downing) Wickert. Dave married Jill Wickert on November 4, 1989 in Rushville, IL. She Survives.

Also surviving are his two daughters, Amy Wickert of Bloomington and Jillian (and R.E.) Waters of Prairie City, two sons, Chuck (and Micah) Wickert of Carlinville and Clint (and Brittany) Wickert of Bushnell, 9 grandchildren, Jessa Schappaugh, Josie Schappaugh, Katelynne Wickert, Grace Wickert, Aydan Brewer, Coby Huber, Gage Wickert, Konnor Brewer and Alyson Waters, mother, Patricia Calvert of Rushville, and two brothers, Michael (and Susan) Wickert of Macomb and Tim (and Kathy) Wickert of Adair, IL

He is preceded in death by his father, Don Wickert and his grandparents.

Dave was a laborer at Briggs Manufacturing in Abingdon for 13 years. He also worked at Rushville Sale Barn, Tate Cheese in Dallas City and Bridgeway in Macomb.

He sheared sheep in High School and was a member of the Prairie City Fire Department. He enjoyed singing and C.B. Radio, using the handle “Flap jaw”.

Services will be held at 1 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2016 at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 pm on Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at the funeral home in Astoria. Interment will be in the Woodland Cemetery in Astoria. Memorials may be made to the Dave Wickert Memorial Fund.

Deb and I truly enjoyed and will cherish the times we spent with David and his daughter Amy playing cards and enjoying a good steak dinner together. He was truly a kind good man. God be with you David. Rest in peace my friend. Amy Adelman and Deb walker.
